WELCOME TO OUR FUNKY CLASS BLOG:p

Yup, this is the closest I can get to being funky:P

Class, I want you to think of literature as something that is cool and relevant to your times, thus, the blog title. I think I have made it obvious during the first day of our meeting how passionate I am for this course, and I want to infect you with that passion for our own literature. I want to ensure also that you would be able to relate with the stories, poems, komiks, essays, and plays that we will be tackling in class, so I chose those that you (at your age and current millieu) can find relevance in although there are still some that would seem obscure to you like Nick Joaquin's Summer Solstice and some of the poems. However, these works have achieved the level of Filipino classic literature precisely because they transcend time. For instance, you do not have to be born during the Spanish Occupation to be able to relate with what transpires between Lupe and Paeng in the Summer Solstice:)

I hope you would also actively particpate in our discussions. Feel free to voice out your thoughts. Let your voices be heard. We all have our own stories to share. There are no wrong or right answers because all answers reveal a thinking individual. In science for example, you need to undergo a series of experiments before you can finally reach your desired outcome, so excellent solutions are born out of a series of mistakes. Let's have insightful discussions in class then, alright?

Regarding your blog assignment, let me reiterate this. Be careful in choosing your blog header as this will give your reader the first impression about your blog. You can add a subtitle below your blog header to briefly explain the contents of your blog. Also, make your profile as interesting as possible. Include a photo of yourself in it.

The directions for your first blog entry is in the course coverage file in our yahoo group. I am including a link to our yahoo group in this blog, so you wouldn't have a hard time accessing it.

God bless, class!!!

Ma'am Joan
